Tony just called. It is 9:15 PM Wednesday evening. Tony told me they are traveling quite a distance from their camp so their time is limited for witnessing and doing the medical clinics; therefore, they are not doing the crusades. Instead, they are have a church service every morning, eating lunch, and then holding the clinics in the afternoon until about 4:00 PM. Tony is still pumped…. They had 90 Salvations this morning…. 53 during the church service and alter call, then 37 more after the service and further counseling. Tony is working with Pastor Debaucher (Probably not spelled right, but I am phonetic) and another evangelist by the name of Luis. He said their team is working great together with no problems.
As for the food, Tony said he thought he was going to starve to death in the beginning. He is not liking the food much in India, but is not complaining. The pastor went into town and got them some fruit and veges. He said they have had some good meals and he is not complaining, just not crazy for the India Cuisine.
This is pretty awesome, Tony shared with some of the ladies they could not serve Hindu and serve God. He said many peeled off their red dots as a sign they wanted to follow Christ. He was emotional as he told the story and is just so in awe and joyful worship for what God is doing in India.
Please continue to pray for them.
Tony called today (Tuesday evening for him) to say there have been 21 Salvations on Monday and 45 Salvations on Tuesday. Please continue to pray for the people of India.
To God be the glory,
Debbie
Tony and Charles were able to call home this morning, which was Monday afternoon for them. Both of them are at their final destinations for the mission. Both seemed rested and energetic. They are excited to get on the mission field and do whatever God has for them. We did not hear from Ed this morning, but will keep you posted on his journey.
Tony ate at KFC today at noon. He was quite humored about traveling thousands of miles to a foreign country and eating at KFC. He is so excited and anxious to get started. As I am writing this they are starting their first full day on the mission field. I can only imagine what God is going to do with Ed, Tony, and Charles. The testimonies will be “most awesome”.
Keep praying for the mission teams (15-18 teams or 4 or 5) and the people of India.
To God be the glory,
Debbie
Ed and Charles are at or on their way to their final destinations in India where they will serve for a week. As far as I know, Tony should be nearing his destination within the next 24 hours. There have definately been challenges and “stretching” just in the journey of getting to India. Charles’ plane could not fly due to fog and he was put on a 14 hour train ride to his final destination. Ed is at his place of service, but has had little to no sleep in the past 48-72 hours.
Tony called at 12:15 AM on Sunday. He was energetic and anxious for his next stage of his journey. He still had a ways to go before his final destination. Pray for their health, energy, and stamina.
Updates will follow as I get them.
In Christ,
Debbie
Charles Jeffries, Ed Evans, and Tony Pearce will be traveling to India January 24th through February 9th. We need your help to make this mission trip effectual and powerful by committing to faith-filled praying.
Here are some of prayer requests needed each day:
- Salvation for the people of India
- Open doors for evangelism in schools, prisons, hospitals, etc.
- Open hearts and minds to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
- Bibles for distribution
- Safety for the entire team
