Final Kenya Update

August 7, 2008 Filed under: Missions, Praises — admin @ 8:18 am

Jambo from Kenya, Africa,

Our missionary journey has come to an end in Malindi, Kenya.  God has given us great favor through spiritual warfare.  Our team has seen 21,236 professions of faith and 11,824 bibles have been distributed in schools, villages, churches, and to individuals.  Praise God for the harvest!  Please continue to pray for these new believers in Christ.  The churches here have a lot of work to do in follow up, but they are comitted to doing the work necessary to build their churches.

Everyone on the team is in good health and high spirits as we prepare to come back home.  Please pray for us as we begin our journey back.  We leave here at 1:00 PM Kenya time (5:00 AM Altus time) for Mambosa.  Our plane leaves at 5:00 PM Kenya time (9:00 AM Altus time).  We will be in airplanes and airports for 2 days and arriving at DFW, God willing, by 1:00 PM on Friday.  Pray for Charles as he is coming to pick us up.

Finally, please remember to pray for Charles and Ramona Jeffries and their Peru mission trip. I know they will have wonderful testimonies to share when they get back.

Kwa Heri….. Goodbye

We will see you all in a few days.

To God be the Glory

Kenya Update #4

August 3, 2008 Filed under: Missions — admin @ 8:11 am

Well, it is 4:00 PM in the afternoon in Melindi and we have completed the Sunday morning worship in our new churches for the week.  Everything has gone fine with salvations this morning.  Marjorie, Ann, Sydney, Ann, and Jeannie made it back from their safari.  They had an awesome time.

Adolph, Ed, Tony and I (Debbie) went to Kewondonie Baptist Church on Saturday.  This is the church Tony served out of 3 years ago and goes back each year to visit.  It was like a homecoming.  Many of the pastors and friends came there to see Tony and meet his wife.  I was treated like royalty.  It was very moving….  They missed Charles Ortega and sent him a gift.  They had hoped he was coming.  They have committed to praying for him daily that he will be elected to public office.  In that way, he can serve according to God’s will and not man’s.  They were so excited.  We planted trees (4 of them) in honor of our visit.  Charles’ and Tony’s trees from last year are really growing.  The church gave a good report of their building project that many of our members have helped support.  They are spending the money as agreed and the church is coming along.

Today,  Claire, Maurine, and Ed have gone to see the progress on the churches they have supported.  The reports should be exciting and encouraging.

Well, gotta go.  I will try to email again close to the middle of the week.  We will be leaving Thursday morning and arriving Friday afternoon.  We all look forward to seeing our friends and family again.

Till then,
Love Debbie and Tony

Kenya Update #3

July 31, 2008 Filed under: Missions, Prayer Needs, Praises — admin @ 3:15 pm

Sorry it has been a few days since we have emailed.  Tony and I are serving about 1 1/2 hours from the hotel, so we are walking in the bush, going from village to village, from about 9:45 to 3:00 each day, then a short bible teaching at the church.  They are Baptist, so you know short doesn’t mean anything.

You are not going to believe this, but here it goes.  At the end of Wednesday at reporting time, there had been more than 8,000 professions of faith.  Did you get that?  That is awesome.  Also thousands of bibles have been distributed in the schools.  The team has done at least 9 schools during the past 2 days.  We will have this week’s final report tonight and I will try to email you with the results.

Next week, starting on Sunday, we will serve in another church.  All of us will.  Going from village to village, hut to hut, sharing the gospel.  It really doesn’t get any better than this.

It was hard today for all of us leaving our pastors, national volunteers and interpreters and moving home, but the work goes on.  Part of you wants to stay here, but we all miss you guys very much.

By the way, Adolf is not the same Adolf you knew when we left.  God has worked miraculously through him.  He can hardly contain the emotions and feelings he is experiencing.  I can guarantee, he will never be the same.  I don’t think any of us will be, but Adolf is definately having a “God Moment”!

Tony, myself, Adolf, and Laura Leigh are going to a school tomorrow at 3:00 PM (7:00 AM your time).  Please pray the message will be received and they will pray to accept Christ.  We will be distributing bibles at this time.

Thanks for your continued prayers.  We have seen the mighty hand of God everywhere we have been.  It has been said before, but is worth repeating,… If you don’t see it with your own eyes and experience it, it is hard to believe.  Even when you see it, it is hard to believe.

Love you all,

Debbie

Kenya Update #1

July 27, 2008 Filed under: Missions, Prayer Needs — admin @ 12:39 pm

We all arrived in Malindi, Kenya on Saturday with only a few glitches.  One piece of luggage did not make it for one team member (not the Altus group), but all is okay.  All of us served in Churches this Sunday with a National Volunteer and the Pastor.  We will serve with them in the bush through Thursday evening.  Then on the next Sunday, we will repeat the process in a new church.

There were many salvations this morning…. lots of singing, joy, and hope for the Kenya people and the missionaries.  Our National Volunteers (N.V.) and Pastors are in the process of arranging and setting up schools for the up coming week.  Please be in prayer for the children to hear and understand the gospel message and receive Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

In closing,  everyone is well and up for the task at hand.  Please keep us in your prayers.

God is so good!!!

Results of India 2008 Mission Trip

February 16, 2008 Filed under: Missions, Testimonies — Tony @ 11:14 am
Tony called on Friday morning, February 15th, (Friday evening for him) to report the results of the India Mission Trip. Kuala Lampur is the location that they all separated from each other at the beginning of the mission trip and it is the location where they all return to and give their praise reports. Tony Pearce, Ed Evans, Charles Jeffries, and Sherri Cone were 4 of the India Missionaries from Altus, OK. There were 57 people participating in the Mission Trip with the following results:

**4,682 Professions of Faith
**Many baptisms

Tony and Ed were given the opportunity to baptize some who accepted Christ last year on the mission trip. It is their custom to wait a year before baptizing.

A group of the missionaries headed home on Friday, February 15th, and will be arriving back in the US on Saturday. Sherri Cone will be home today, February 16th. The remainder of the missionaries, including Charles Jeffries, Ed Evans, and Tony, extended their trip to include a tour of the Taj Mahal in New Deli, India. They will be home on Wednesday of this week., February 20th.

Please pray for traveling mercies and good health for all of the missionaries.

As this is being written, the Kenya Mission Team is waking up and preparing for their journey home.  It is Thursday morning there and packing, team meetings, fellowship, and hopefully rest, is on the agenda for the day.  If I know Tony, Charles and Nathan,  “throwing down some Jesus” is also probably on the itinerary.  Tuesday and Wednesday have been wonderful days on the mission field, with Wednesday being absolutely outstanding.  On Tuesday, Tony visited villages and approximately 40 were saved.  The scenery has been breath-taking with mountain tops to ocean landscapes…. Tony was truly blessed by the scenery.  On Wednesday Tony’s team visited villages and a school.  At the school there were 266 professions of faith and 250 bibles distributed.  They also presented a soccer ball to the school.  Tony said the teachers, guides, and kids were all very excited.  It was just a “God” thing. All in all there have been over 10,500 bibles given.  Is that awesome of what?

Pray for safe travel home and rest as the team begins their journey.  They will spend one night in London, then home on Saturday evening.

Tony, Charles, and Nathan visited in the village where Tony served a couple years ago with Pastor David Kazunga.  Tony was able to see Debbie Nama (Grace) and her mother Margaret.  Both are doing fine.  While there in the village on Saturday, the guys shared the gospel and 26 people accepted Christ as personal Lord and Savior.  Charles led a man through the sinners prayer and helped him to accept Christ.  As they walked on, a lady came running after them.  She wanted what her husband had…. Nathan was able to lead her through the prayer and she accepted Christ also.

Tony shared with a Witch Doctor, 2 friends, and a woman.  The Witch Doctor said, “I know what you say is true, but I don’t want to accept Jesus as my savior.”  Tony questioned a bit further and was told that he worshiped other Gods and Satan; therefore he couldn’t accept Christ.  They were asked to go to a home and pray for a sick boy by the name of Silas.  The guys laid hands on Silas and the family all gathered around to pray with them.  As a result, all of the family prayed to receive Christ….  By the way, this is the family of the Witch Doctor!!!

The guys all wanted to share how they feel your prayers and presence in their daily journey.  They love and appreciate all of you.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for Silas … healing
  • Charles requests prayer for the next week
  • Tony and Leetta will visit schools this week
  • Pray for the people in the villages and schools as they share the gospel
  • Pray for schools and villages to open
  • Pray, Pray, Pray…..

Praise Report:

  • 5000+ Salvations
  • 3-4000 Bibles given

Tony called at the end of the day on Thursday.  They are all doing great and God is moving powerfully in the group and in the hearts of the people of Kenya.  Tony served in the village / church on Thursday.  He had an awesome day of praise, fellowship, and worship with the village and church he has been working with during the week.  Charles Ortega visited a school on Thursday with approximately 700 children with over 500 of them accepting Christ.  In addition, over 500 bibles were distributed on Thursday.  Nathan Webb has been in the villages and is seeing God move in awesome ways.  Tony is hoping all 3 guys will be able to minister in the schools on Friday.

Tony will have an opportunity this weekend to visit the pastor he keeps in touch with and has worked with in the past.  He will try to see Debbie Nama (Grace) while he is there.  (See her story on the website)

Awesome news from Kenya:  approx. 3000 salvations and 1700 Bibles have been distributed.  Tony, Charles, and Nathan will serve together the next couple days.  They will be visiting several schools.  To say they are excited is an understatement.  Everyone seems to be doing well with the exception of fatigue.  Tony said they were all tired and in need of some rest, but there is work to be done.  They are thankful for all of your prayers and hope you will continue.  They are definately walking into the prayers all of you have been praying for them.

In Christ,
